Who Is Wizkid?
Wizkid, whose original name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, is a top-rated Nigerian Afrobeat musician who has carved a niche for himself globally. Ayo is a very popular musician in Nigeria, Africa, and the world at large.
In his music career, he has featured almost everyone in Nigeria, including Burna Boy, Olamide, 2Baba, D’banj, P-Square, and many more.
Wizkid became popular in the late 2000s with his debut song “Holla at Your Boy,” which became the song on everyone’s mouth.
Wizkid Educational Life
Wizkid was born in 1990 in Surulere, Lagos, and was enrolled at the Ijebu Ode Grammar School in Ogun State. Upon completion, he proceeded to Lagos State University (LASU) but dropped out in 2009. We think this is why the scholarship by the Wizkid Foundation was so important to him, as he dropped out due to financial reasons. Although Wizkid later finished at LASU, not much was recorded there.
Later on, Wizkid proceeded to Lead City University in Ibadan but dropped out after studying for only two semesters.
How Wizkid Scholarship Was established
Like earlier said, Wizkid dropped out of LASU in 2009 due to financial reasons, and this is why we think he was inspired to help the poor in Africa covering about 7 countries. His experiences during his university days were the catalyst for forming this scholarship program for the university students.
The scholarship was established in 2019 and was opened to all Nigerians in 2020 to some of the African countries from 2021.
