Located in Newcastle upon Tyne, in the North-East of England, Newcastle Institution (officially known as the University of Newcastle upon Tyne) is a public research university.
The College of Physical Science, later known as Armstrong College, was created in 1871, while the School of Medicine and Surgery, subsequently known as the College of Medicine, was founded in 1834.
These two institutions eventually came to make up one division of the federal University of Durham, which also included the Durham Colleges.
The Newcastle colleges merged to form King’s College in 1937.

Have and be able to demonstrate financial need for the award. This could include:
Unable to cover basic cost of living;Unable to participate in extra-curricular activities;Having to work in excess of 10 hours per week in a job.
